Food donor spotlight: Childhood Bakery

Joe Chan is the owner and baker of Childhood Bakery – one of our regular bread donors.

Donor spotlight: Mr. Chan

Mr. Chan donated money to Feeding HK because he realised he is more fortunate than many others in the community. “Food is essential for survival, supporting a foodbank is a direct way to provide assistance to those who are facing crisis and difficulties. When people have enough food, they are capable of other activities,” he shared. Mr. Chan paid a visit when he made the donation and he was amazed by the efficient operations, the organised warehouse and the professional team.

Food recipient: Ms. Wu

Ms. Wu is a member of the food assistance programme at Sha Tin Wai Hong Fook Church. Three years ago her husband suddenly got a stroke and could not work. Fortunately the family was referred to a food assistance programme under the help of a social worker and supported by Feeding Hong Kong. “ I am really thankful for Hong Fook Church and Feeding Hong Kong’s food donations. This helps us save money for my husband’s physiotherapy,” she said.

Food donor spotlight: La Rose Noire

La Rose Noire has partnered with Feeding Hong Kong for over 10 years and has donated over 44 tonnes of high quality baked goods. “You do not want to waste the food while so many people in the world are starving. Anything is possible, we should not make an excuse for not wasting food,” said Yvonne Wong, the Managing Director. She encourages other food companies to also donate food to charitires like us.

“Donating bread is not profitable at all for a business, but I just wanted to help as much as possible,” said Joe Chan, the owner and baker of Childhood Bakery.

“We should not have any excuse for not reducing food waste,” shared Yvonne Wong from La Rose Noire.
