Community Engagement Director

To develop and deliver the communication strategy, education and marketing programmes and manage the allocation and effectiveness of resources in communication, fundraising and engagement activities.

Job purpose

  • To engage and promote Feeding HK to food donors, frontline charities, funders, volunteers and other community partners;
  • To plan and lead the execution of the communication function, including the website, social media, newsletters, eDMs and media relations;
  • To develop strategy and achieve fundraising targets from corporate, foundation, organisation and individual donors;
  • To develop and implement education initiatives and marketing events to promote food waste reduction and the solution of food banking.

Key responsibilities

Communications

  • Develop and deliver the communication strategy and plan to food donors, frontline charities, funders, volunteers and other community partners to raise the profile of Feeding HK;
  • Grow the audience and build deeper engagement with social media followers and newsletter subscribers;
  • Maintain a good relationship with the media and other community partners to promote the mission and image of Feeding Hong Kong;
  • Develop strategies and execute fundraising programmes to diversify and grow income from corporate, foundation, organisation and individual segments;
  • Measure and report the impact of fundraising campaigns and programmes on donors;
  • Collaborate with other department heads to achieve multifaceted targets of fundraising programmes.

Engagement and marketing

  • Develop effective engagement initiatives with food donors, frontline charities, funders, volunteers and other community partners;
  • Develop sustainable education and marketing programmes to educate food waste reduction and the solution of food banking to corporate and school sectors;
  • Work with the CEO to promote Feeding HK through participation in external conferences, seminars and projects.

Management

  • Manage the allocation and effectiveness of resources in communication, fundraising and engagement activities;
  • Collaborate with the senior management team to set a collaborative and committed organizational culture and manage a small team;
  • Liaise with other NGO organizations and keep abreast of the market intelligence of engagement, fundraising and marketing programmes.

Accountabilities

  • Be accountable and report to the Chief Executive Officer;
  • Line manage a small team of 2 managers;
  • Work with volunteers and interns when needed.

Requirements

General

  • University degree or above; 
  • Excellent command in written and spoken English and Cantonese, Putonghua an advantage;
  • Minimum 10 years in corporate communications, fundraising, media relations or marketing experience, NGO experience an advantage.

Able to:

  • Strategic and strong in leading execution 
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with all Feeding HK stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively and demonstrate excellent presentation skills 
  • Agile, positive and collaborative 
  • Work independently and with diverse groups of people

    Knowledge of:

      Volunteer & Education Assistant Manager

      To support the development and lead the successful delivery of Feeding Hong Kong’s (FHK’s) volunteer and education programmes.

      • To support the development and lead the successful delivery of Feeding Hong Kong’s (FHK’s) volunteer and education programmes;
      • To be the face of FHK, being a regular point of contact with volunteers and programme partners;
      • To recruit, support, develop and manage individual and group volunteers;
      • To promote FHK’s volunteer and education programmes, activities and events to community partners.

      Key responsibilities

      Volunteers

      • Coordinate and develop FHK’s individual and corporate volunteer programmes;
      • Ensure appropriate volunteer capacity and availability to meet all operational needs;
      • Ensure effective organisation, administration, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of each volunteer programme;
      • Promote volunteering both internally and externally;
      • Build and enhance links with sources of volunteers;
      • Ensure a positive and rewarding experience for volunteers so that they become ambassadors for FHK;
      • Ensure policies and procedures are developed and followed, in line with the volunteer programme manual;
      • Liaise closely with the Fundraising and Communications Manager, to develop content for FHK’s social and digital platforms, and to promote and publicise volunteering;
      • Share good practice and establish KPIs and benchmarks to evaluate the volunteer journey, experience and outcomes;
      • Support colleagues in the identification of funding opportunities and the preparation and submission of funding bids to secure funding to support and further develop volunteer programmes.

      Education

      • Coordinate and deliver FHK’s educational initiatives, with corporate partners and educational institutions;
      • Schedule and lead workshops, presentations and tours with audiences of all ages;
      • Support the development of new educational resources;
      • Represent FHK at service fairs and educational events.

      Other

      • Ensure volunteer and education data is accurately recorded and kept up to date;
      • Assist with other activities of the organisation as required.

      Accountabilities

      •  Be accountable for and report to the Fundraising and Communications Manager;
      • Work with interns when needed.

      Requirements

      General

      • Written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese) and English (fluency in both);
      • At least 5 years work experience in the non-profit sector or education field;
      • To be fully committed to the mission of FHK to reduce food waste, feed charities and drive change.

      Experience of:

      • Coordinating and/or managing volunteer programme

      • Establishing and building relationships with external organisations.

      Able to:

      • Establish strong working relationships with Feeding Hong Kong stakeholders;
      • Communicate effectively in a range of forms and demonstrate excellent presentation skills;

        Part Time Accounting Assistant

        To support the day-to-day accounting operations of Feeding Hong Kong’s financial resources.

        • Processing accounts receivable and payable;
        • Checking incoming and outgoing payments for accuracy;
        • Dealing with incoming invoices;
        • Reconciling accounting data to ensure accuracy;
        • Creating and maintaining spreadsheets;
        • Performing basic office tasks like filing, data entry, and mail processing.

          Requirements

          General:

          • Basic accounting knowledge;
          • Strong computer skills in a Microsoft Office environment.

          • Juggle multiple priorities and to deliver under pressure;
