Finance Manager

Job purpose

  • To oversee all finance, accounting and reporting activities of Feeding Hong Kong (FHK);
  • To lead the day-to-day finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets management, month-end accounts reporting and grants administration;
  • To ensure systems and procedures are in place to support effective programme implementation and conduct audits;
  • To partner with senior leadership to enhance and better integrate finance and IT functions.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements;
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs and programme budgets and actual expenditures;
  • Coordinate all audit activities and ensure records are compliant with requirements;
  • Analyse financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of Feeding Hong Kong’s financial status;
  • Assist the Chief Executive Officer in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate;
  • Oversee all financial, project/programme and grants accounting, and ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and programme budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants;
  • Refine and update the financial policies and procedures manual;
  • Additional controller duties as necessary.
  • Assist with other activities of the organisation as required.

    • Supervise volunteers and interns when needed.

    Requirements

    General:

    • Bachelor degree in finance, accounting, business management or related field; CPA or CMA preferred;
    •  Strong computer skills in a Microsoft Office environment.
    • Candidate with less experience will be considered as assistant manager.

    Experience of:

    • Coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments;
    • Developing or improving financial management systems;
    • Grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of government, corporate and foundation grants.

    Able to:

    • Work unsupervised and organise a demanding workload;
    • Juggle multiple priorities and to deliver under pressure;
    • Work accurately, paying close attention to detail;
    • Effectively analyse and communicate key data to senior management, the board of directors and other partners;
    • Speak and write fluent English and Chinese (Cantonese).

    Knowledge of:

    • Accounting and reporting software.

        To increase all areas of income to fund the work of Feeding Hong Kong and develop and promote a diverse range of fundraising activities and projects to support fundraising strategy and income generation.

        Key responsibilities

        Fundraising

        • Manage and grow the full range of fundraising experience including trusts and foundations, individuals, community and corporate giving;
        • Research, identify and make applications to corporates, trusts and foundations;
        • Produce timely and accurate tailored reports to funders;
        • Monitor and review the income of the organisation against the budget and report to the Finance Manager on a monthly basis;
        • Work in partnership with external organisations, businesses and agencies to identify and develop growth opportunities;
        • Organise and manage fundraising activities, events and manage various donations formats or platforms from trusts, foundations, institutional funders, corporates and private donors;
        • Contribute new ideas for fundraising and identify suitable funding initiatives;
        • Represent the work of Feeding Hong Kong at events to members of the public and supporters, where necessary delivering presentations.
        • Manage and update databases to record donor contact and preference information.

        Other

        • Review and monitor the annual fundraising budget;
        • Assist with other admin and support tasks as requested.

        Accountabilities

        • Be accountable and report to the Partnerships Manager;
        • Work with volunteers and interns when needed.

        Requirements

        General:

        • Bachelor’s degree
        • Fluent written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese) and English;
        • Communicate effectively in a range of forms and demonstrate excellent presentation skills;
        • Good numerical and critical thinking skills;
        • A minimum of 3 years of work experience;
        • To be committed to the mission of FHK to reduce food waste, feed charities and drive change.

        Experience of:

        • At least 3 years expereince in fundraising and building relationships with donors;
        • At least 3 years experience in NGO;
        • Fund reporting.

        Able to:

        • Establish strong working relationships with Feeding Hong Kong stakeholders;
        • Write persuasively and for different audiences;
        • Work independently and with diverse groups of people;
        • Drive, influence and negotiate to achieve the desired outcome;
        • Display high level of initiative, problem solving and decision-making;

          Logistics and Supply Chain Intern

          Support our Operations team to ensure the smooth flow of product donations from the food industry to our charity network
