Mooncake Madness 2023
Food. Wanted, not wasted. Give mooncake a second chance!
Mid-Autumn Festival is a day for reunions and spreading joy. While celebrating this wonderful festival with our loved ones, let’s not forget the needs in our community.
It is estimated that over 4.64 million mooncakes were wasted in 2021, while many people were still struggling to afford three nutritious meals a day. Donate your surplus mooncakes to us instead of sending them to landfills.
We have set up a list of community collection points across the city and you are invited to donate any extra mooncakes or mooncake gift vouchers from your home or company. We will deliver your donations to our frontline charity partners so they can share the mooncakes with those in need in the community on or before the Mid-Autumn Festival. Together, we can reduce food waste and spread kindness at the same time.
Donate your mooncakes or vouchers by the following dates
If you are donating mooncake vouchers, make sure you mail them to our Yau Tong Foodbank at least 10 days before they expire.

If you are donating mooncakes, we accept donations that:
1) Can be stored at room temperature
2) Are packaged, unopened and not expired
3) Have a clearly stated expiry date and manufacturer
Drop off your mooncakes at our Yau Tong Foodbank, or at any of our community collection points across Hong Kong.
Donate to support
For the cost of two mooncakes, Feeding Hong Kong is able to rescue 130 surplus mooncakes! We are also providing special food parcels, consisting of surplus food supplies and mooncakes to the community this Mid-Autumn Festival.
